About Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

Nica Burns presents The Sheffield Theatres Production of EVERYBODY’S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE.

Once upon a time, there was a 16-year-old boy who had a secret he wanted to tell…

So, he approached a documentary filmmaker as you do, and asked if they would help him tell it. The resulting documentary was seen by a theatre director and it inspired him to create a musical. A producing regional theatre backed him. He then bumped into a famous musical theatre star who introduced him to a well-known pop composer who was working with a lyricist and book writer. The theatre put on the production. A major producer saw it and offered them a West End theatre.

Thanks to Jamie Campbell, Firecracker Films, Michael Ball, Sheffield Theatres and Nica Burns, this new British musical by a new British theatre writing and directing team, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie ran in the West End’s Apollo Theatre from October 2017 to September 2021 and embarked on its first national tour in 2020. The musical made its North American debut in January 2022 for a limited run at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles with Layton Williams and Bianca Del Rio leading the cast.

In September 2021 Amazon Prime released the original movie of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie starring Max Harwood, Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley, Sharon Horgan, and Richard E. Grant. The film has received critical acclaim and 5* reviews.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will return to the stage for its second national tour in September 2023, led by Ivano Turco, John Partridge, Shobna Gulati, Hayley Tamaddon, Giovanna Fletcher, Sam Bailey, Kevin Clifton, Rebecca McKinnis, Daren Day and Talia Palamathanan. As part of this tour, Jamie will return to London for a limited run at The Peacock Theatre.
